Import photos with original date and location
How do I import photos from icloud to my MAC keeping the original date and location?

Are you using the Photos app to import or sync your photos? If so, then it should definitely be preserving the metadata associated with those photos, including the location. If you're not using Photos, then we would recommend doing so since it is the most streamlined way to sync your photos between devices.
