I have spent 3 days trying to migrate a mid 2010 Mac Pro 15,1 to the new Studio

Apple support told me I has 14 days to send back the Mac studio to the store.

SO I did and got stupid kinda !!

Ordered a studio with M2 Max with 12‑core CPU, 38‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine

32GB unified memory and a 2TB SSD storage.

Should set me for another 13 years for me.

Still keep the mid 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 around.

Support had mentioned the difference between the 2 OSX systems.

Might be incompatible, why it was taking so long.

Ah for another day after the new shinny spanking system comes here.

Started out well I thought the old machine said about 21 minutes.

The Mac tudio was counting up to over 38 hours and forget the minutes.

I think something locked up the transfer and did not report it to a window on either machine.

I did get another user added but limited files and folders.

Mainly those I wanted to see updated to the new OSX...

Going from 10.14.6 to 14

Not as of yet, still doing the migrate thing last gave up stopped it.

Maybe today [Sunday] I will do it on Studio. Then the MacPr 5,1..

Would like to get more storage, but Apple help desk said no it will only be the 512Gb strage for it.

Cheap SSD

Think it is one of those not ssd drives inside.

Anyway I got hold of Apple support and was told I still had time to go to the Apple store and trade up.

Now have the cash to do so.

I thought it was a great deal when I first got it.

Well I m back again. Got the new Mac Studio and same issue last night until today.

States it is migrating 4 hours and 53 minutes. From 4PM Saturday - today 1:20PM, I stopped it.

Nothing was transferred . Did setup a password for later login when done.

Password does let me login.

Also using WiFi as ethernet will not connect to router.
