Downloads folder MacBook Air

My downloads always used to go into a folder on the dock bottom right next to the bin.

Since a recent upgrade they now go into a folder at the top right of the browser marked as a circle with a down arrow.

Can I change it back?

downloads folder not on DOC I have the same problem- that is- the downloads folder disappeared. I'm using a Macbook Air, Sonoma 14.6. I did check the Finder sidebar settings- so yes I found the downloads folder was checked- but it does not appear on my Doc. I tried the fix that was suggested- hold down :shift command H simultaneously. yes that opened something with my name, and my downloads folder is there. but I still cannot move my downloads folder to my doc. can any one help?

That's just a type of notification the browser supplies. It has no relation to any folder, it just shows progress.

The download location is controlled by a setting in the browser. Firefox option looks like this:

All browsers have this option.
