Brightness control

I inadvertently swiped the brightness all the way down a few times on the Home Screen and the screen went black. Is there any way to adjust it so this can’t happen? Trivial, I know-but frustrating when it happens. Thanks.

iPhone SE, iOS 16

Brightness is controlled in Settings and/or in Control Center — not on the Home Screen. Either method is adjustable at any time. Brightness all the way down keeps the interface still visible; not completely black.

A complete black screen would have a different cause. Not sure what you did to make that happen.
