I disagree with this solution and all others that are suggesting to turn off all the items to stop calls from appearing on 2 phones. If we do that they we don't need an iphone. I have had 2 iphones on the same account for 14 years and the never had the problem until ios17

We’ve always had the same Apple ID, never had this issue before.
Whether you've had this before or not, is not the issue. This is expected behavior and two different people should NOT share the same Apple ID. Your son needs his own Apple ID, then to share content, you can use Family Sharing, which is designed for families, like yours.
See this --> Family Sharing - Apple
Whether you've had this or haven't had this, is not the point. Two phones should not share the same Apple iD and this is how Apple intends this to be on two phones which do the same Apple ID.
If you don't like what Apple has chosen, this is a user to user only forum and you are not speaking with Apple. You can let Apple know what you think about this here --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple
Your son should have his own Apple ID. If he's under the age of 13, you can create a child account for him: Create an Apple ID for your child - Apple Support

When you purchase the forum, you can then tell people what they can post or not. Until then, the ONLY solution is to contact Apple and let them know you're not happy with this. There is NO OTHER solution available. Sorry, if you don't like that.
If you're using the same Apple ID on both phones, then this is expected behavior.
Are both phones yours? Is one for work, the other personal use?

Normal and expected behavior if both phones are using the same Apple ID.
One is mine, and one is my sons. Never had this problem until now.

The issue is that you have it now, and it will continue until and unless you have separate Apple IDs for each phone.
If this is a user to user forum and not actually apple. Stop suggesting solutions then.
I have the same problem except one is for personal and one is for work and it gets very confusing sometimes
