Iphone 14 messaging

I bought an iPhone 14 and now I cannot receive messages from group texts. I can get one or two people's texts, but not all of them. I have spent hours on the phone with ATT and have had my case sent to the top but that apparently does nothing. They said that I cannot receive some texts even from individuals who do not have the same carrier, WTH? I have had cell phones for a long time and have never experienced this. Anybody know what to do?

Hi questiongirlie,

You're most welcome. It sounds like you're receiving messages but the messages appear in gray rather than blue or green, correct?

Although we're unable to speculate as to why this is happening, check out this resource to help you to troubleshoot messages on your iPhone: If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"If you still need help

  • Try to restart your iPhone or iPad.
  • Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need cellular network connection. If you turn on Wi-Fi Calling, you can send SMS messages over Wi-Fi.
  • Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you’re trying to send, like MMS or SMS, is supported.
  • If you’re trying to send group MMS messages on an iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on MMS Messaging. If you don't see an option to turn on MMS Messaging or Group Messaging on your iPhone, then your carrier might not support this feature.
  • Make sure that your device has enough space to receive images and videos.
  • Make sure that you entered the correct phone number or email address for the contact.

We would suggest that you contact Apple directly if you're still unable to receive messages as you'd expect. They can investigate this further with you. You can find their contact details here: Contact Apple Support

Take care!

Hi questiongirlie,

From the behavior you describe, you've already taken the appropriate steps in notifying your carrier and having them investigate it.

Messages to and from your device that include only other Apple devices will be in blue and deliver through the Apple iMessage service. Messages that include at least one non-Apple device will appear in green and deliver through your cellular carrier via either SMS or MMS. If your iPhone messages are green provides some clarification on these and related iPhone settings.

Presuming the people you cannot message with are not using Apple devices, your carrier will need to complete their investigation for a solution.

Regards.
