Icon in every photo how to remove?

I don’t know what it’s called but when you open any photo, there’s a little gray square icon in the lower right corner and a lot of times it’s over top of some thing underneath it. Is there any way to stop it from appearing?

Bill_T… your second part helped me and it fixed it. Sorry I didn’t read it all at first.

It was the language and region, setting where I had to turn it off, and then it stopped appearing. So, thank you

Hi Strgzr,

That icon is related to Live Text, or text recognition in photos or when using the camera of your device. The support article Copy and translate text from photos on your iPhone or iPad reviews this function in greater detail.

The page Use Live Text with your iPhone camera offers these instructions for disabling that feature in Camera Settings:

"To turn off Live Text on your iPhone camera, go to Settings  > Camera, then turn off Show Detected Text."

and Use Live Text to interact with content in a photo or video on iPhone describes the steps to enable the feature which can be used to disable as well:

"Turn on Live Text

Before you start using Live Text, make sure it’s turned on for all supported languages.

  1. Go to Settings  > General > Language & Region.
  2. Turn on Live Text (green is on)."

Regards.

Rob: Mine all of a sudden disappeared when I had all the settings off. Also, now when I open a photo it’s not there, so I don’t know when it changed or why because I did the same stuff you said you did, including turning the phone off and back on. Regarding Apple reading these posts it’s usually just people donating their time and knowledge and not the Apple people that work at Apple. If you want to send suggestions to them, there’s a good feedback site that they have available which I have used a lot to send suggestions to: Product Feedback - Apple

I have followed the steps in this thread to turn off the live text in the settings under camera. The icon still shows up after a half a second when there is any picture with text in it. I do not want the icon in my pictures. I do not want this. I have done what everybody says, and the darn thing is still there like a zit on your drivers license photo. I have the current ios update. I have turned off the phone and turned it back on again. I have turned the setting to "on" exited out, and then come back and turned it off again. Nothing has worked that I have tried to get rid of it. If anyone at apple actually sees this, please know that it is not wanted, annoying, and turning off the live text feature doesn't eliminate the icon. Fix it.
