Microphone doesn’t work in WhatsApp

Whenever I record a voice note on my whatsapp it is mute and when I am trying to listen it say “the audio is no longer available” even though all my setting for microphone is on and also the whatsapp is updated as well and iOS is up to date. but I don’t know where is the issue. Tried all the basic stuffs (restarting, reinstalling, closing all the apps, checked privacy setting whether microphone is allowed or not). Still not working whereas my other Whatsapp business, telegram and other apps working properly but having this issue only in whatsapp.

Contacted them several time and didn’t get relevant answer. Any suggestions? Or it could be a bug?

I discovered I had restrictions set, unknowingly. Go to settings, type “restrictions” in search, “content and restrictions” will come up, turn off/on the toggle, this will reset the restrictions. If you need to do additonal check, go to “microphone” select “allow changes”. When you go back to WhatsApp try using microphone and it should ask if you want to allow access, press “allow”.

I provide some tips that WhatsApp support team suggested. But in my case nothing worked. Try it if anyone have the same issue.

Allowing WhatsApp to access your microphone and record audio is necessary in order to capture sound from your device. By granting permission, you’ll be able to record voice messages and make WhatsApp calls.

To give WhatsApp access to your microphone, navigate to your device’s *Settings* > *Apps* > *WhatsApp* > *Permissions* > *Microphone*.

The issue might be resolved by closing apps on your phone that are using the voice recorder. If you have apps that record your calls or are listening for a wake-up phrase, you'll need to close those apps in order for WhatsApp calls to work.

Additionally, try restarting your phone by turning it off for 30 seconds and back on.

Good luck 🍀

You are welcome.

In your Original Post, you typed "Contacted them". Who is "them"? Is this WhatsApp you contacted? Or is it Apple you contacted? Contact WhatsApp --if they can't help you, then uninstall, and then reinstall the app.
