The Info or “i” button is not showing up in a any of my pictures, in both the camera and photos app. I couldn’t find any setting that might turn this function on or off. Even if I swipe up, it only provides information about the location and people in the picture, no information about the metadata. I have an iPhone 7 running iOS 14.7.1.

Missed it again. 🤭 This new community where the put all Photos topics, both iOS and madOS, in the same community has me stumbling quite a bit. Sorry about that. Don't use iPhone's Photos for much other than just taking and storing photos. No editing.
With a photo selected type the key combination of ⌘+i to bring up the Info pane for that photo. Or use the Window ➙ Info menu option.
I don’t think you understand - I am on an iPhone running iOS, not a Mac.
