IOS 18.1.1 update - how to edit photo metadata ?

With the new update, the option to tap top right and add further personal notes/information to a photograph has disappeared.

The options are now simply - adding to an album, edit the time or location or send to trash.

This is not an improvement.

Thanks for any help on this.

Comments are added to the Caption section in the Info Window.

I've included paragraphs, there, though it's a little crazy to scroll through them with the tiny text field. But you can copy it and past into a text editor to see it more easily. The Caption is included with the metadata that is transferred with the picture when you export it. So, for instance, for old family pictures I include birth/death dates and relationships, and so on.

By "labelling function" do you mean Captioning, or do you mean adding "markup" text to the surface of a picture?

I can add text to a picture with the markup tool

with not problem, but others have reported that it doesn't work for them. The steps to handle text may have changed some-- I know that I had to select my text and then choose "format" to get to the text menu.

Even people with two new iPhones have said that it worked on one but not the other. I think that this is a mystery that's very difficult to solve, especially since most of us can't reproduce the problem. I know Apple is aware, but to remind them you can leave feedback here:

Just be sure to keep getting the latest update. And cross our digital fingers…

Ahhh! Yes, that's caused confusion. It is an i in a circle

normally, but when Visual Lookup finds something in the picture it's proud to be able to identify, then it switches:

Here it's found a plant, so instead of an i, it's a little leaf.

Here's a Downey Woodpecker,

and, after very careful examination, I can confirm that there's a tiny bird inside the circle.
