Airdrop only working one way.

I have an iPhone 15 pro max and an iPad Pro m2. When I airdrop from my phone to the iPad it works. However if I try to airdrop from my iPad to my phone it just says declined. It doesn’t work.

iPad Pro, iPadOS 17

Hi themysteryman-4,

We have a few suggestions that may help you resolve the AirDrop issue between your iPhone and iPad. First, it's important that both your devices are on the latest iOS and iPadOS version for each. If you haven't yet, start here:

Also, confirm that you:

• have both devices unlocked when you attempt the AirDrop

• have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled on both devices

• do not have Personal Hotspot enabled

• do not have AirDrop restricted at Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps > AirDrop

• have disabled any VPN of other security software that may be impacting the connection. This article will explain: Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues

Then, for purposes of troubleshooting, adjust your AirDrop settings to allow "Everyone for 10 Minutes" from Control Center or at Settings > AirDrop. This will temporarily remove permissions that may be impacting your transfer. "How to adjust AirDrop settings" in How to use AirDrop on your iPhone or iPad has a great visual to help with this step.

Once you have checked off all the above, try the AirDrop again. If it still fails, try toggling AirDrop off and back on at Settings > AirDrop to reset the connection and fully restart your iPhone. A restart can resolve many minor issues and refresh connections on your devices.

We look forward to hearing how it goes!

Regards.
