Force eject does not work on 2017 iMac running macOS Ventura

iMac 27inch 2017 model running Ventura recently updated. Force eject does not work.

when closing iMac down some disk drives will not eject and this message comes "the diskT7 wasn't ejected because one or more programs may be using it" and force eject does not work

When this happens, try logging out and back in. This usually gets rid of the problem.

You could try just quit applications, but this usually won't work - probably because some background process was left dangling from a closed application and is still hanging on to some file or files on the drive. By logging out all processes associated to your user are quit.
