MacBook Air charging ports aren’t working

After using a Kmart brand mouse on one of the ports- port stopped working entirely. So I thought it was the mouses fault so I bought a Logitech one and it made the other port stop working. I think the ports have blown. Now I can’t charge my MacBook. I also bought a new charger for it and it still won’t work. And tried different power outlets in the house. And I also inspected the ports for any dirt or damage. (It’s fine) The MacBook has a dead battery now because I can’t charge it, so I can’t turn it on to reset it or anything. I tried to do all of that before it run out of battery though. (Obviously didn’t work) Also since I’m here, another problem with it- the keyboard light stopped working like 2 months after purchase but because I was a teen in high school at the time, I didn’t think to take it in for repair before warranty expired. If someone could help that would be amazing. Thanks. (Was bought brand new not refurbished)

I'm sorry to hear that you're still trouble with your MacBook Air charging ports. Based on your description, it seems like the ports have blown out due to a power surge or other electrical issue. You've already tried using a new charger and different power outlets, but the MacBook still won't charge. You also inspected the ports for any dirt or damage, but they seem fine.

Since the battery is dead and you can't turn on your MacBook Air to reset it, I recommend taking your MacBook to an authorized Apple service provider for repair. They will be able to diagnose the issue and replace any damaged parts.

That said, if you want to try some troubleshooting steps before taking it in for repair, you can try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your MacBook Air. This can help resolve issues with power, battery, fans, and other features on your MacBook. Here's how to do it:

- Shut down your MacBook Air.

- Press and hold the **Shift + Control + Option** keys on the left side of the keyboard and the **Power** button at the same time.

- Release all four keys at the same time.

- Press the **Power** button again to try and turn on your MacBook Air (all being well, this reset will be enough to allow the battery to start charging again.)

If resetting the SMC doesn't work, then it's likely that there is a hardware issue with your MacBook Air charging ports. In this case, I recommend taking your MacBook to an authorized Apple service provider for repair.

I hope this helps!
