2015 Macbook pro no longer charging from Magsafe 2 charger, but macbook air is?

So I have a 2015 macbook pro which has a magsafe2 60w charger. It has always worked fine until my son borrowed it for his macbook air. I assumed that he had been rough with it when it no longer lit up the light and didnt charge my macbook pro any more after I got it back.

I tested it on his macbook air and it is charging his ok. So I tried resetting the pram and then resetting the SMC on my macbook Pro but it still want working. Eventually the battery ran out and the macbook died, just showing the red battery connect to power icon on the screen, but it isnt charging anymore when I connect the charger?

I found that pushing the magsafe 2 connector against the charging port on the macbook made the light flicker on briefly. so I tried cleaning the charger magsafe 2 connector and the port and pushed them firmly together and it stayed lit and started charging...

If your MagSafe cable or power adaptor isn't working – Apple Support (AU)

If it doesn't help at all, I recommend take your MacBook Pro with charger to your local retail Apple Store, Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined both, MacBook Pro and its charger there.
