Based on that alert, your Apple ID requires a security authentication before it can be logged in. You should have been given an option to indicate that this wasn't your attempt. Your account is safe so long as you get those, as the other party is unable to gain access. If you'd like to change your Apple ID password you certainly can, though the other party does not know it.
