Sign-out is not available due to restrictions

If you are on cellular, make sure in the “Mobile Data” option you have set “Settings” to green. So the “Setting” can use mobile data. For Settings to work, the phones needs to use mobile data. I have not tried this while on a WiFi network but you can try while on It.

If your Apple ID settings are greyed out this is because of screen time settings. Go to settings>screen time>restrictions>make sure that allow account changes is set to on. After this you can access your Apple ID settings

Key for me was to find the area where you could change the screen time password and just turn it off. I also had a sleep schedule enabled on my iphone and removed it because I was working on this during what I had previously schedule as part of a Focus sleep routine. I didn't have to reboot, once I did those it just enabled the logout button. Do make sure you have the "share across devices" features enabled for those areas.

You may be forced to update the software.

Is screen time completely off? This is strange. First change your Apple ID password to be sure. If restrictions still pop up, please Contact - Official Apple Support to get further support on this issue.

I just experienced this myself and updated the software. Didn’t have to change anything.

This totally worked! Ever since the iOS 17.3.1 update I have been unable to get my iMessage to activate ("waiting for activation" prompt wouldn't go away and no amount of reseting or other online ideas worked). But going to "Focus" and turning off "Focus Status" for some reason did the trick. I did still have to sync to get my most recent texts to show up. Thanks for your help!

interested to know how you got on especially with the frustration! I got knew 13 2 years ago and find my has never worked I had advanced data procection stuck on for 4 months and I don't even have other devices I also have the message I can't sign out of Apple ID I have 22,000 messages backed up to iCloud when messages aren't even turned on for back up I could go on all night , the best bit I've not been able to log into iCloud on safari since Maybe aug last year , all I've ever been told Is engineers are looking at it! But returning the phone I've always been told no way! I only got it so I felt safe knowing people knew where I was with find my but unfortunately never have I been locatabev on maps ! And if u try change pw in appleid on safari it always says u need continue on with another device! I am really starting to despise the situation and the phone it's been over 2 years and it's still never right

Just trying to erase my daughter's old iPhone 11 after upgrading her to the 15 Pro and was completely stuck at the Apple ID logout. This process worked for me just now after trying everything else. Phew! Thanks so much!

having the exact same issue. it's super frustrating cos all solutions online involve screen time but mine isn't even activated. hopefully the ios 17.1 update will solve this
