You must enter both your Apple ID and Password when verifying email address

I had a phone stolen and got a new iPhone 15. During setup, I'm asked to verify my email address. I'm asked for my password, and I enter the correct password, but get an error: "You must enter both your Apple ID and password", however there is no field to enter my Apple ID. When I click "Sign in", I get the same error. See attached screenshot. WHERE do I enter my Apple ID?

Strange even though it showed the correct email address, logging out and back in solved the problem and I was able to verify my email address.

The is SOME Apple ID that is already set up on the phone. You must remove that.

It presumably already knows your Apple ID, so enter your password where it says “password”.
