Hello midjack,

This article explains more about using the onscreen keypad in your iPhone: Type with the onscreen keyboard on iPhone - Apple Support.

If you mean while on a call, you can simply tap the keypad to go to it, then tap Hide Keypad to hide it. To undo that action, simply tapping Hide Keypad again will bring it back up. If you don't see the option, end your call and restart the iPhone, then try again.
