Texting Myself

I sometimes text myself messages as reminders, so I don’t forget things. Now when I text myself, it send it to me twice. One is blue, which is what unused to seeing and the other one is gray. It didn’t use to happen before. How do I stop it from sending me a duplicate text to myself?

Duplicate texts to myself Hi there. I text myself all the time with things to remember. Recently after getting ios16 I get duplicate texts. One is an imessage in blue that i sent, and one is a "reply" to myself. I tried toggling off imessage altogether and resetting. I removed my email address from send and receive and now only have my phone number, that didn't fix it. This only happens when texting myself. I also tested it on my macbook and the same thing happens. Additionally, when I delete messages on one device (such as my phone) it doesn't delete it on the other (such as my ipad or macbook) The image below shows texts that I sent to myself one time. I also deleted the "reply" messages on the left on my iphone, and as you can see they are still there on my macbook (screenshot)

Messages I am getting duplicates of all text messages when I text myself- which is quite a nuisance as I text myself various things throughout the day. How can I make it stop? Please? Thank you, Anne

Hello lstrahorn,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! What you are experiencing is expected behavior. The grey message is the incoming message that you are receiving from yourself. The blue message is the message you've sent. The same will remain true for any message you send that is an iMessage. For regular SMS text messages, the messages you receive remain grey and the SMS messages you send out are green.
