iPhone 15 Screen Scratching Easily?

I've had my new iPhone since launch date and only just noticed a tiny scratch in the top right of the screen. It's not minor as I can feel it by running my nail along the screen and just very confused where it's come from. I always have the phone by itself in my pocket and haven't dropped it or anything similar at all.

Compare that to my previous iPhone 12 Pro Max which I never had a screen protector on and it's been dropped a handful of times with not a single scratch on the screen.

I don't have a screen protector atm so technically my fault, but I'm struggling to understand what could have scratched it so easily.

An unprotected iPhone screen carried in your pants pockets may not be hosted in as pristine an environment as you think. When pants are washed, some reside detergent is left, which then when dried can turn into microscopic crystals. In addition we live in a world with micro-sand particles, which can accumulate in our pockets. You can't necessary see them, but when they are brushed up against an unprotected glass screen, these teeny tiny particles become abrasives and can scratch your iPhone screen. This is why I personally NEVER keep my phone in my pocket. Instead, I keep my phone in a belt clip case, which places the phone face down so it can't be harmed by anything. And I also make sure to put a decent quality screen protector on my phone right out of the box, to ensure the screen can't be harmed. I find it more amazing, people will pay $1000+ for a phone and not spend a few dollars more to protect it.

While I'm not going to post any links to articles, there are a number of really good, not biased articles about the new glass formulas on modern iPhones and scratch resistance. Google them. Simply said, the newer formulas are intended to make the screens harder to break, which since Apple moved to this glass is quite apparent. But when you make glass harder to break, that doesn't mean it's harder to scratch. In fact the opposite is more common. Glass which can flex more to avoid breaking, can be easier to scratch. So, it's wise to use a screen protector and this becomes a non-issue.

Guys,

I think this forum isn’t going to help and/or listen by Apple. It’s just sharing community of people who have been loyal as Apple Fans of the problem and there is pro and contra opinions only which never give any solution at all.

The people who are sharing about this product just to let Apple know but if there are people who pro to Apple also doesn’t speak out on behalf of Apple, do you agree?

So I think my personal opinion is just sharing info and no need to be give any advice while Apple even doesn’t give any word comment, thank you

All I can say is unbelievable. I am blown away that I logged in with the question iPhone, 15 easy to scratch screen and I’m finding this for him. I was hoping I was just a one off case. But it seems that this is becoming a frequent problem with the new glass on the iPhone 15. as many of you have had iPhone for many years. I go back to iPhone one. I’ve never had a phone that scratches so incredibly easy. And I’m wondering if there is a resolution? Please keep me posted.

Same here. Had my iPhone 12 pro for years with no screen protector and it still doesn’t have a single scratch on it. I have had this iPhone 15 for a month and I am extremely disappointed. It has so many small scratches on the screen already. The stupid Dynamic Island takes up more space than the notch and is useless or redundant most of the time. This phone costs over $1000 yet is a downgrade from previous models in just about every way. This will be my last iPhone. Very disappointed.

People buy the iphone for its looks,a $300 phone could do the same if

not more, we pay $1000 for a luxury, high quality product and then have

to put it in a case with a screen protector so no one can see or touch

it? That is like putting a protective case over your Rolex. The 12 Pro

had a screen that resisted scratches it can be done and its what I

expect not scratches in days and I never even took it outside, Not

Happy.

I bought mine and waited a couple of days to get a screen protector to come in and I am already noticing scratches !! Never in the years that I have been with an iPhone see a screen SCRATCH so easily!

APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS, I Don't think many of us have been imagining any of this. ( and their Apple cases break so easily, while I was seating my phone sled out of my pocket and fell but two feet and is already Cracked!! WHAT IS GOING ON???

They were actually correct. However, it always pays to keep in mind that there are people in this forum from many different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Unless a grammatical, spelling, type or usage mistake (which this was not) makes it impossible to understand, it's kindest to just let it go.
