iPhone 15 Screen Scratching Easily?

I've had my new iPhone since launch date and only just noticed a tiny scratch in the top right of the screen. It's not minor as I can feel it by running my nail along the screen and just very confused where it's come from. I always have the phone by itself in my pocket and haven't dropped it or anything similar at all.

Compare that to my previous iPhone 12 Pro Max which I never had a screen protector on and it's been dropped a handful of times with not a single scratch on the screen.

I don't have a screen protector atm so technically my fault, but I'm struggling to understand what could have scratched it so easily.

Ive had mine since launch, I also have had every iPhone ever, never wore a case or screen protector, I dropped those hundreds of times and never got scratches. My iPhone 15 Pro Max has more scratches on it in 1 month with 0 drops than any phone ive ever had in my life, my entire screen is deep scratches. it is terrible.

An unprotected iPhone screen carried in your pants pockets may not be hosted in as pristine an environment as you think. When pants are washed, some reside detergent is left, which then when dried can turn into microscopic crystals. In addition we live in a world with micro-sand particles, which can accumulate in our pockets. You can't necessary see them, but when they are brushed up against an unprotected glass screen, these teeny tiny particles become abrasives and can scratch your iPhone screen. This is why I personally NEVER keep my phone in my pocket. Instead, I keep my phone in a belt clip case, which places the phone face down so it can't be harmed by anything. And I also make sure to put a decent quality screen protector on my phone right out of the box, to ensure the screen can't be harmed. I find it more amazing, people will pay $1000+ for a phone and not spend a few dollars more to protect it.

While I'm not going to post any links to articles, there are a number of really good, not biased articles about the new glass formulas on modern iPhones and scratch resistance. Google them. Simply said, the newer formulas are intended to make the screens harder to break, which since Apple moved to this glass is quite apparent. But when you make glass harder to break, that doesn't mean it's harder to scratch. In fact the opposite is more common. Glass which can flex more to avoid breaking, can be easier to scratch. So, it's wise to use a screen protector and this becomes a non-issue.

Me too, went from a 12 pro max to the 15 pro max and within a few weeks I had a pretty significant scratch in the center of the screen and one of my mics went bad. Apple did replace the phone for the bad microphone. I have a screen protector on now. Been rocking an iPhone since the inception of the iPhone. C’mon guys, price goes up, quality control goes down.

I haven't missed any point. And Apple has used the very same glass formula on iPhone for at least the last 3 years. Glass can scratch and if you don't protect it, Apple doesn't warrant against accidental damage. Put a screen protector on your phone to avoid further scratches.

If you want, schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show them the scratches. But don't be surprised when all they do is offer to sell you a Belkin Screen Protector on your phone. Apple sells and installs screen protectors in Apple Stores all day long. Why? To protect the very expensive investment people made in their phone. If Apple didn't think there was any reason to put a screen protector on iPhone's, they likely wouldn't sell and install them themselves.

I have scratch that formed that is 1 inch by a quarter inch and they called it "cosmetic". I have no idea how it got there and I don't cary keys in my pockets. It has also formed a bunch of scratches that are more than earlier edition Iphones. This seems to be a product issue given my personal usage hasn't changed. I suggest everyone invest in a screen protector and complain to Apple.

The screen on iPhone 15 and the 14 before it are NOT inferior screens, no matter what you say. The glass formula may be easier to scratch, but it is infinitely harder to break, meaning it won't cost hundreds of dollars if it falls. It would be incredible if someone could invent glass which is equally harder to break and scratch, but that hasn't yet been invented. You cannot suggest the screen is inferior, however. And it is beyond mystifying to me anyone would spend up to or more than $1000 on a phone and not spend a few dollars on a screen protector to protect their investment. Mystifying is an understatement.

iPhone 14 used Ceramic Shield, just as iPhone 15 does. From the research I've done, there is no difference in the formulation of the glass. I'd say you were just lucky to not have scratched your previous iPhone and you've not been so lucky with your current iPhone.

If you use Apple's compare iPhone models at www.apple.com, here is what it says about iPhone 14

"Ceramic Shield front, tougher than any smartphone glass"

And here is what Apple says about iPhone 15

I mean luck plays a lot into this but man I know I put my iPhone 4, 5, 6, 7, SE, XS, 12, 14 through a lot more stress with only micro scratches to the screen. It’s suspicious to me that I’ve had the 15 for two months to have “deeper grooves at a level 7”.

Marketing terms don’t mean the quality control is the same. Regardless, I’m stuck with it and I’ll just accept that this screen will scratch more. Maybe I’ll replace it later on to get a fresh feel.

I don’t know why you are defending of people sharing of their problems. i have bought previous Iphone 14 and never the store ask for screen protector if wants to buy it but when bought Iphone 15, they even ask me if want to buy it and even offer insurance to cover for human error.

You might be right same material but low quality to save cost.

Look at Samsung, if they offer screen protector recommendation?

Even I showed the store for what the youtube showing about testing with knife and the reply said no believe it.
