Apple Watch battery drains super fast after 10.1 update.

Series 7 Apple Watch. After 10.1 update my battery only lasts a few hours. I can literally watch the percentage go down. Rebooted the watch. Shut off background app refresh after advised by a friend. Still drains ridiculously fast. It’s essentially useless now. I’m out of ideas. Anyone else have this problem? This is crazy.

My watch used to last two days, even with me running an hour a day. I no longer run and now it drains faster. I have to put it on the charger overnight and again mid-day. Normally, it takes about an hour to charge. But there are days that it takes up to five hours to hit 100%. I haven’t added anything or changed any settings since I got it almost two years ago.

i have an ultra 1 and it was dying within a couple hours after the 10.1 update and wasn’t charging past 70%. I turned off optimized charge limit and deleted moby fox and so far it’s back to normal. There will hopefully be a patch update on the next firmware update to fix this but this seems to be the work around for the time being. I will fully charge tonight and test on full battery tomorrow.

I don’t have MobyFace. But I reset it and paired it again and while the battery charges now to 100% whereas before it only charged to 75%, it drains in about 4 hours from 100% to zero. Apple fix this crap. The watch is rendered useless. Only happened after the 10.1 update. My watch is a series 9 so it’s not even old.

This was the case for me. Erasing all the content, hard resetting or shutting off the watch didn’t fix the battery drain but once I offloaded every non-essential app, my Series 8 started functioning normally. I really wish I had done this first; setting up the watch from scratch several times was a real pain and I still have to recreate all my watch faces.

The problem is the update. I shouldn’t HAVE to delete anything from my watch. I have a perfectly fine iWatch ultra that lasts up to three days on one charge. After this update, it’s killing my battery. I go from completely full 100% to dead in less than 8 hours. This is unacceptable and Apple needs to fix it like, yesterday. I rely on having my watch at work, and this is just ridiculous. What happened to testing updates before rolling them out?

I was devastated yesterday, waking up after taking the 10.1 Upgrade. I managed to get through 40 minutes of fitness and it died. Charging was a joke. I rebooted, same, I removed 3rd party apps as suggested, rebooted. Seemed ok. Reloaded the bare minimum. And for some reason I considered Moby Face App to be min in spite of barely ever using it. This morning, coming here, read the reports on that app. Removed it, rebooted phone and watch. And I'm operating at about normal. Big down side, I lost a full percent of battery health because of the shenanigans of yesterday. Down from a perfect 100% to 99%. Before yesterday I had NEVER left the house without my Ultra on, and before that, never without my apple watch on since apple watch. This was a bad one. Delete Moby app if you've got it. IF you don't have that app and you have this issue, you should shout that out. It could help others.

This happened to me too. 3 hrs to charge for less than 3 hours of life. Reset, repaired, deleted all apps. I even went to the Apple Store to try to get help. They told me it wasn’t a known issue so all they could do is sell me a new battery. It better be known now! They all but accused me of bringing in a failing device to fix for free. This is not customer service! I’ve been using Apple products for years, mac, iPad, watch, tv. How can I trust them again! So frustrating!

Same here. I have an older version 4ish. But I charged it (tapped the charge to full) to 100%. Put it on at 4 am to track my sleep. Woke up at 8 to it being 100% dead. I then was able to get it to charge to 100% again put the watch on and while sleeping for an hour it drained to 73%. In the 15 minutes I have been up it has gone from 73% down to 66%. Looks like I’m going to need to find a way to charge my watch every couple of hours all day long until Apple fixes the issue. Oh this all started the instant the update to 10.1 was downloaded to my watch last night.
