Apple Watch battery drains super fast after 10.1 update.

Series 7 Apple Watch. After 10.1 update my battery only lasts a few hours. I can literally watch the percentage go down. Rebooted the watch. Shut off background app refresh after advised by a friend. Still drains ridiculously fast. It’s essentially useless now. I’m out of ideas. Anyone else have this problem? This is crazy.

My watch used to last two days, even with me running an hour a day. I no longer run and now it drains faster. I have to put it on the charger overnight and again mid-day. Normally, it takes about an hour to charge. But there are days that it takes up to five hours to hit 100%. I haven’t added anything or changed any settings since I got it almost two years ago.

I’ve had this issue now I think four or five times including with 10.1. It usually doesn’t last more than a few days and it helps to erase and then set up the watch as a new watch. It’s still ridiculous I have to go through this. This is why I’m advocating for a class action suit against Apple for creating updates to do this. They don’t care if it ruins your watch or inconveniences you. I think they’re hoping that it will destroy your watch battery so you either have to spend $90 for a new watch battery or buy a new watch. They also have no way to contact corporate other than sending an actual letter through the mail. How’s that for a $2 trillion tech company? They really really want your feedback, don’t they?

So, spent 30 minutes with tech support. Explained the battery issue with the upgrade. Wouldn’t acknowledge that, but wanted to know my blood type and provide a DNA sample. Was finally told that my battery was “degraded”. Of course it was! After your software update, my watch almost burst into flames it was so hot. I’d degrade too at those temperatures. Luckily, I have AppleCare, but they threw in a disclaimer that if they find other issues, I might have to pay for that. Won’t happen. Not throwing more money at something that was clearly a software issue. Hope Apple comes through, but I fear they aren’t the company they used to be. Fingers crossed.

Yesterday I put my watch on the charger overnight, put it on at about 10 am and by the afternoon I had gotten a 10% battery notification. I used a different outlet than normal so I thought it was weird but that maybe the outlet was funky and had stopped charging at some point during the night so at 4 pm I put my watch back on the charger and forgot to every put it back on so it sat there charging from 4 pm until 9 am this morning, 100% charged I’m positive. I just went to go do a workout and it’s currently 1 pm and I’m getting the 10% battery notification again. Absolutely absurd I’ve never had this happen in my two years of owning this watch. There has to be something more going on

It is happening the same to me after the last update… and it seems there is no much to do as after the update it is not possible to downgrade.

I have an Apple Watch 7, the battery used to last more than 24 hours and now it is draining quicker … rather than a battery replacement, I am thinking of trading my watch with Apple program and get the 9 vs before this one gets outdated.

Well, add me to the list. I am no longer getting even 7 hours out of a charge. I just got a warning that I was at 10%, and less than 5 mins later it showed 2%. Totally unacceptable. And if this is “ the way it is”, I may have to switch. My wife has FitBit that does pretty much all the watch does, but she charges it every few days.

Oops - am typing this on an iPad that was at around 50% this morning, and all it did was sit, closed, and right now at 20%. Thank you, Apple!

My battery used to last for 2 days. It would have 65% battery left after 12 hours, so I’d get 2 days wearing it before I have to charge it. Since the 10.2 update it’s at 30% after 12 hours. Very disappointed in Apple.

Unless you have an Ultra, Apple specs the battery at 18 hours usage time. So, if you were getting 48, that's incredible, almost unbelievable.

My Watch 7 (with an aging battery) givesme about 20 unless I do a long workout. I consider that completely acceptable.
