Ringer volume low after updating iOS 17 on iPhone

Hello,

1. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > RINGTONE AND ALERTS. Then move the slider
2. Is Change with Buttons on?
3. Try using the volume buttons on the side of the phone while the sound is playing
4. See this: If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker
5. And this: Adjust the volume on iPhone

For people who struggle with this issue and haven't found a solution, this worked for me :

in Setting->Accessibility->Audio & Visual there is a slider called 'Balance'. My friend had probably attempted to turn up her volume by putting this slider all the way to the right, thinking it was a volume slider. When I put it back in the middle where it belongs, her ringtone went back to normal volume.

Do you have an Apple Watch? If you do, turn off message notifications on your watch. It’s the only thing that worked for me after iOS 17 was installed. It’s dumb, but it worked.

Just figured out the issue here when I was helping my grandmother. It's really all because of the devices syncing. I believe her iPhone is around 17.4 (upgradable)

1. Go to your other devices like iPad or extra iPhone
2. Go to Settings > Facetime
3. Turn off "Calls from iPhone"

After doing this, her iPhone finally rang loud! I hope this helps!

when I muted a message group

my volume on my phone went very soft

when I unmuted the volume went back to normal

Let’s help each other out, pass it on, please send videos into Apple showing volume controls can’t make our texts tone/alerts etc louder, if enough of us do this engineering team takes it serious & we’ll get a fix, thank you, yes it’s a ridiculous problem

Please send videos I to Apple showing issue, how we can’t change it w/volume knob etc, to make them louder, if enough of us do it, we will help eachother out & problem will get fixed sooner, it’s in the engineering team now, thank you

Same here. I was late for work because my phone updated and my set alarms went off, but I couldn't hear them. Very frustrating. I reverted back to the old alarm sounds which are louder like an alarm is intended to be.

I’ve called Apple, tried many troubleshooting tips, even sent in feedback, no go so far, I hope you have as well from all around the globe, I’m sure of enough of us do, they’ll hopefully address the issue & help us

I too am having the same issue. My ringtone is so loud I jump when I hear it while I can hardly hear my alert tones. I had always used ‘harp’ but that has disappeared when I upgraded to iOS 17. I have even taken it to Apple care… no solution!!!!!! Clearly this an ios17 update problem. I am updated to 17.3 same issue…

Please sends videos into Apple showing how volume controls don’t help us make the sounds louder in texts/alerts etc, lets help each other out, if enough of us do that it will get fixed, it’s in the engineering team now, been working on this a while now, thank you, let’s stick together pass it on

Hi everyone, has anybody had any help from Apple on this? Yes it’s still driving me nuts too, all my custom text tones went quiet, even w/volume all the way up etc, so it’s not a basic change, something pretty strange happened. Any help is much appreciated, thank you all

I am facing the same issue. The ringtones seem to be loud but the alert/notification tones are very quiet even after setting to full limits. I am running th e latest version of iOS 17 so I am sure there is not any software update issue from my end.

There’s got to be some genius out there in this business, that can figure out why we are going through this? Out of the perhaps millions of folks using these fancy devises, we can’t be the only ones dealing w/this issue. Let’s all stick together & trust a solution will be found some how, to get our text tones back to normal volume, thank you bless you all indeed
