Screen time issues

can not get screen time to work for my child’s phone I set it up on my phone and it is not doing anything to her phone. I sometimes get a message that I have to update their phone using iCloud sync but both devices are up to date. We both using 17.1 I just keep having an issue doing screen time for my daughter iPhone 15 I have the 15 pro max and both are updated and still I can not get control over her phone I been dealing with this since iOS 17.03 and back and fourth with apple still it’s not working. I can control my other daughters phone just fine using my iPhone and her phone is a Samsung I use family link for google no problem. I don’t understand why I can’t even control another apple when I’m set up as the parent! Come on apple fix this!

Screen Time is a never-ending disaster.

They've promised to fix it in near every Mac OS and iOS release, and NOTHING syncs, NOTHING works, ever.

It's just insane.

I'd happily document all the behaviors that fail/don't work, but it wouldn't make any difference.

Hi JasonCic,

Please check out this link, and ensure the requirements and correct process are being used to set up Screen Time for a family member on iPhone, so we can make sure there aren't any issues there: Set up Screen Time for a family member on iPhone

Set up Screen Time for a family member

1. On your device, go to Settings  > Screen Time.
2. Scroll down and select a family member below Family.
3. To schedule downtime for your family member, follow the instructions in Schedule time away from the screen.
If your child requests more screen time, you can approve or decline the request in Settings > Screen Time or in Messages.
4. To set limits for app use for your family member, follow the instructions in Set limits for app use.
5. To choose apps and contacts to allow your family member to use at all times, follow the instructions in Choose apps and contacts to allow at all times.

Note: If your family member needs health or accessibility apps, make sure they’re in the Allowed Apps list. If Messages isn’t always allowed, your family member may not be able to send or receive messages (including to emergency numbers and contacts) during downtime or after the app limit has expired.

6. To help reduce your family member’s risk of myopia or eye strain, turn on Screen Distance.

Thanks!

This only thing that makes sense to me now is how the people that are on their way to get you to do something that you don’t really want them to do and that is the way that they are going to be going and doing it so I think it’s a good idea for me to do that and I think it’s the best way I can do it and I know that it’s not the way I wanted to be and that’s what I want you and I know I want to be with you but you don’t know what to do about me so I’m trying to make it right now but I’m trying to get to know what I need you to get you and I’m trying and I just need to know what you need to get to the end of this whole thing is that is not a bad idea I know what you know how to do this and that’s why I’m just trying to make sure you’re not going nowhere else but you have no one else to make sure you need a lot more than you know what you’re doing and that’s all right now I don’t know how to help you have to get better and then I’ll talk to your best friend that you’re not even close enough for me to be there is a lot more to make you feel like you know how you need you can get you know that you are my love and I will be here to support and help you through whatever it takes for you and I will always be here to be with you in the end I know that I am a good person and I’m just a little scared of the situation and I’m just so sorry that I can’t help it but I’m just really worried right now because it’s really bad and I’m not trying to be in a bad place right now and it’s really sad that you don’t know what I mean to you and it’s not even worth my feelings and I just know you know how much of that is so I just want to say thank goodness I don’t know how much you know I just know that you’re my love you know how much love to hear yogi and I’ll see if you can tell him that makes me so much more than you know that means the best way I love you and I’ll be here for you and I’m so sorry that you have my best to be careful of yourself and I know that you are so sweet and kind to my dear and you have been there for a lot of people are the same as me I’m just so thankful to be in the same boat as you are and I’m glad you are feeling a lot more than I do now and I’m happy that you have been

I was having this problem with screen time suddenly not syncing to my phone as well as not being able to see my child’s location in find my. It was driving me crazy I signed her out and in, kicked her out of family and re added her, reset settings on both of our phones. I tried everything. Today I was going though settings on my phone and in the messages app settings in settings I saw that for some reason she was on my blocked list. I have no idea how that happened but once I unblocked her everything is now working properly.

so I just wanted to share and hope that I can help someone out!!
