I have fogotten the passcode/security pin of my macbook pro m2 2023.

So, I bought this new laptop and as I was setting it, I linked my icloud and also activated the 'find my' option. I am not sure if a passcode was provided. After a few days of using it, I decided to restart the machine and it is prompting me to enter a 6 digit security pin. I am confused.

I went to my icloud and locked it from there, but when I was locking it, it didn't give me the option to set the passcode. Also now, the button to unlock is not active. Also, I can't find a way to unlock via 'find my app'. I can't remember the security pin. But when I check Apple's official website, it states that we can recover this security pin from icloud or 'find my app'. But I can't seem to see how to do that.

What you're describing sounds like a remote lock in Find My: If your Mac is lost or stolen - Apple Support

"After you locate your Mac, you can unlock it by entering the passcode that you created when you locked it with Find My.

If you can't remember that passcode, you have three options:

Sign in to iCloud.com/find, then select your Mac from the Devices menu. Select Unlock and follow the steps to verify your identity.
Unlock your Mac from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch using your device passcode.
Take your Mac to an Apple Authorized Service Provider along with your proof of purchase."

Hello bbesspete,

I had seen these steps on the Apple website. However here is the issue

The unblock button from icloud is inactive. When I press to unlock, nothing happens.
The mac got blocked before I went to my icloud to block it. So, my guess is that it wasn't blocked from my icloud whereas my icloud is attached to the computer.
When I sign into a different macbook and access the Find My app, it shows my blocked macbook. But this is what is strange. When I click to block it it says "Mac will be blocked with existing code".

The conclusion from what I am saying is that, My macbook got blocked without me blocking from icloud whereas my icloud is attached to the macbook. After I realized it was blocked, I went to my icloud to block it by clicking on the "Lost Mode" button. But now, I can't unblock it from icloud because the button is inactive.
