encode selected video file

Using the "encode selected video file" option in finder. How do you set a destination folder for the file? It defaults to the folder that the original file is in and adds a number to the end of the filename because they're in the same folder. Any way to set a new destination folder?

Adding New Video Files to a Folder used in FCP X I have an FCP X event/project containing several folders of video files, sorted by using keyword collections. These files are not stored within the library itself, they are stored on an external hard drive. If I add a new video file to the folder on the external drive OUTSIDE of FCP (a download from the net and a save using Finder) how do I import just the new files into my FCP keyword collection in the project? I thought about trashing the folder within FCP and then importing the whole folder again, but that seems kind of drastic. Is there another, "cleaner" way to do this?

How to export video files with original file names Does anyone know a way to export the files with their original file names rather than the default project name? I'm using FCPX 10.7.1 and when I Save As, I have to change each clip name manually which adds up after 100+ videos

"Encode selected video files" I assumed this was for transcoding videos to change their size and resolution... right clicking on the files shows this dialog box: But this is what I get - two new files, neither of which play, or is a video... Can anybody explain what's going on? Thanks.
