Error occurs when trying to sync Apple Music library between iPhone and Mac

Hi!

I tried syncing my apple music library on my mac with the one from my iphone. I went into settings on mac and I checked the sync library option, did many restarts, tried it in safe mode but nothing worked.

Is there any fix to this?

I am just adding my name to the list of people experiencing this. I have been in contact with Apple Support and expect my third call back next week. While they have been very helpful, we have not been able to make any meaningful progress and they do not appear to have knowledge of a wider issue (I am being treated as an isolated case).

As is the case with others in the thread, the symptoms are as follows:

  • Initially an album was not syncing across devices
  • After switching iCloud library syncing off and back on I lost my entire library on my Mac, iPad and iPhone and the devices are all stuck trying to enable library syncing. (The Apple TV library also does not sync)
  • Adding or downloading music is impossible as the iCloud syncing does not successfully switch on
  • The library is retained on the web interface and can be edited and changed successfully here
  • In addition, my library is also available and working on Sonos and Apple Music Classical apps (that presumably use a different interface).

As others have noted, usual problem solving steps do not help:

  • Switching library syncing off and on
  • Signing out and back in to store
  • Resetting network settings
  • Erasing device and setting up as new
  • Using VPN to test for IP blocking or routing issues

My conclusion is that this is an Apple server / account issue that their engineers need to resolve on their end. I can only hope that it receives enough attention and priority as Apple Music is useless to me at the moment.

Same Problem here! "...Genius...(18004)."

I have already tried the following serval times:

- Restarted Apple Music

- Restarted Mac

- Signed out of Apple Music and signed back in.

- Signed out of iCloud and signed in again.

And nothing has worked!!!

I’m in the same boat. Web app still shows my library. All other devices have lost access - either just times out silently when syncing or pips up with an error.

Really frustrating.

I think there’s some larger syncing issue at hand though - I lost a whole day’s worth of Fitness+ data yesterday, and it now says my birthday is a day before what it actually is.

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing the same issue on my Mac and iPhone. My Apple Music Library completely stopped syncing and after multiple calls with AppleCare Advisors who talked with engineers about this and they concluded that this is a know issue that will be fixed in a future software update on both macOS and iOS.

Hopefully it comes sooner rather than later.

The workaround of changing the password while logged out from iCloud didn't work for me.

I opened a ticket and chatted with several operators while trying to identify issues with anything but Music. It's definitely a bug either on Music app or cloud backend systems.

I'm sure a bunch of Apple devs too are experiencing the problem now :] I'd be pretty sure they will address the bug sooner or later.

PeterChime, thanks for the update. I am concerned that this issue appears to have been around since October and most of us have not received an acknowledgement of a known issue from Apple Support, nor has the Apple System Status page been updated with this issue. Let’s hope they are taking this seriously and addressing it as a matter of urgency.

I also can't synchronize the Apple music library on all devices, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad Pro 2 and 3 Macs Apple Silicon, error 18004 on Mac, contacted support for 3 days in a row without any result, I should call back but I give up.

The only device it seems to work on is the Apple TV, so the library seems intact.

I wonder how it is possible that a company like Apple can create difficulties for its customers, who pay the subscription, on a function that has worked very well for years.

How is it possible that with each update they add almost useless things and manage to make basic things stop working.

I'm very disappointed, on a software level there are too many problems, ios, macos and all the others are full of bugs.
