Error occurs when trying to sync Apple Music library between iPhone and Mac

Hi!

I tried syncing my apple music library on my mac with the one from my iphone. I went into settings on mac and I checked the sync library option, did many restarts, tried it in safe mode but nothing worked.

Is there any fix to this?

Sorry for the late reply. To clarify, I signed out on my Mac entirely, changed password, signed back in on the Mac in System Settings.

I had tried signing out and back in previously, but didn’t change password, and the problem persisted. Only when I changed the password whilst signed out did it fix my problem.

I'm having this issue on the latest version of iTunes & Apple Music on Windows 11. First occurred in iTunes, so I signed out, de-authorised, uninstalled completely and reinstalled. Didn't fix. Tried same in Apple Music Preview.

Have cancelled my subscription until this is fixed - Literally no use for me because music doesn't play at all, keeps asking me to sign in again because 'session expired'. Web version works, but is very inconvenient to use compared to app.

Also, turning off iCloud library still doesn't allow me to play Apple Music content. It just tells me 'An error occurred'. So issue isn't just with iCloud Library Sync.

I also can't synchronize the Apple music library on all devices, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad Pro 2 and 3 Macs Apple Silicon, error 18004 on Mac, contacted support for 3 days in a row without any result, I should call back but I give up.

The only device it seems to work on is the Apple TV, so the library seems intact.

I wonder how it is possible that a company like Apple can create difficulties for its customers, who pay the subscription, on a function that has worked very well for years.

How is it possible that with each update they add almost useless things and manage to make basic things stop working.

I'm very disappointed, on a software level there are too many problems, ios, macos and all the others are full of bugs.

I have been trying to sync my iPhone 13 to my PowerMac for over a month now. I’m syncing the music on my phone to iTunes. At the third level when it is preparing to sync music, it just spins. I’ve restarted both the computer and the phone. It will sync pictures, just not the music. The phone seems to work fine otherwise. I almost went in and bought a new phone. A new iOS update should be coming in two weeks, so I’ll wait for it. I don’t know if this is a phone error or a computer error though. Help!

I'm sick of this. I battled with this error for the last ted days. Apple support got logged me out, erasing all my wi-fi password. I'm paying for an Apple One month plan. This is SUPER annoying.

I have an appointment with a a Genius on a store. Will keep you posted if he came up with a solution.

Ask then for a few months free. They offered me 5 months and I didn't even have to ask them, however , I had already mentioned that I had spent 11 hours on the phone to Apple support

I have the same - very annoying - problem since two weeks, but I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one. I don't have to doubt myself, it is clearly an 'Apple bug'.

At a certain point only the web version of Apple Music showed the right playlists and my compleet music library.

At this moment some devices (iPhone, Macbook) are synchronized correctly, but not all. My iMac for instance still doesn't synchronize.

THANK YOU @nabstar! This worked for me too. My Mac hasn’t been syncing music for weeks.

I did the various points individually but not all together. Perhaps this was necessary in combination to release the lock.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but in the last step I first logged into Music and then into iCloud services in system settings.

Hope this helps others as well!
