is have a 2015 Mac pro 13 inch I brought 2nd hand. For some reason I am unable to log into app store even though the credentials I have can log into icloud. I need to update the IOS after the wipe and as I cannot log into app store I cannot update. Any advice?

You need to use your Mac user account, that is your login user name to sign in to the App Store.
