M3 MAX MACBOOK PRO , just bought a M2 MAX.. exchange:?



I purchased a brand-new MacBook Pro 16-inch with a 4TB SSD, 32GB RAM, and the top-of-the-line M2 MAX chipset, which amounted to a substantial investment of over $6,500.


I would like to clarify that I am satisfied with the computer itself; however, I was disheartened to learn that Apple recently announced a new lineup of MacBook Pros on released on the 30th of October, featuring the M3.Given this recent announcement, I am left with a sense of concern and wonder about Apple's policy regarding such situations.


with only 7 days since I received my M2 Max MacBook Pro, considering the significant advancements in technology and features, does apple offer a free exchange? Or I am left with egg on my face?

14 day no-questions-asked return of most products, (except underwear, some types of food, medicine) is mandatory in the EU, at least in my country. You don't have to give any reason why you want to return the product. Some companies are even trying 30day no-questions-asked return to get the business. It is not that easy to sell things these days.


Usually, one shouldn't buy anything on the release day.

Apple's 1-year warranty is a volunteer warranty, which it gives as an advertisement. The EU 2-year consumer guarantee is mandatory, whatever company you are. Most probably, there's no 1-year mandatory guarantee on anything in the US. I think the max you can get is 90-day guarantee and that is given by the company, just get more buyers, not because of a government law.


We have a large TV, which got into trouble in the 22nd month from the buying date. Informed the seller, and they asked if we have the box, when answered in the negative, they send a box through a courier, who waited till we packed it, took it with him, leaving a signed receipt. We got it back repaired, within 2 weeks, with a new screen. That's mandatory guarantee on a product.


14 day return with-no-questions-asked is also mandatory.

That's alright. I'm happy to live here, where our rights as consumers are mandatory, not the rights of the companies/makers/manufacturers to sell us anything and not answer for defects. They are obliged to sell us things that work, and keep on working well for at least 2 years. Those products have to be repairable even after those 2 years. Laws of that kind will be coming out steadily now and in the future. There'd be laws coming on OSs too, which have to go on working, and companies cannot shy away their responsibility. 👌


It is a guarantee, not a warranty.

I placed an order for a new MacBook Pro 16-inch on October 17th with Apple M2 Max with 12‑core CPU, 38‑core GPU, 1TB SSD, 64GB RAM. Apple has not shipped my MacBook Pro yet. I just checked my order status and states "Sent to Manufacturing". Will Apple replace the M2 Max chip with the M3 Max or will they try to find an M2 Max chip from a returned system to build my new MacBook Pro?

Apple has shipped my new MacBook Pro today. I am hoping that they have upgraded the M2 Max chip to the M3 Max in my new device. However, I am not sure where I can see the configurations of the MacBook Pro that has been shipped to me. When I checked the coverage for my new MacBook Pro, it shows "MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2023)" and that the purchase date is November 2023.
