Face ID disabled after phone was in water

Taking photos in at a water fall, phone was splashed by water as is expected and submerged for no more than ten seconds twice

iPhones are water resistant and not waterproof. This means the chance of damage is lower, but it's not zero, and you should not submerge the phone or intentionally expose it to water.


Your phone has likely been damaged by the water. Make an appointment at an Apple store to find out what your options are for repair.
