Fox News App and Website Freeze MacBook and iPhone

This problem has plagued multiple users for over 3 years now with no apparent solution. On both my MacBook pro and iPhone, the Fox News app (iPhone) and website (MacBook) will start to slow down my device's page loading as I scroll down the page. Eventually, scrolling is impossible and the device locks up requiring a restart. Occasionally, I can wait 1-3 minutes for the page to load and then exit, however, in most cases a restart is required. Not sure what is causing this or how to resolve. Funny that it only happens with Fox News. I've never had this problem with any other website.....ever.

Fox News recently started

freezing after I read

an article. I have to reboot the app every time. I have rebooted the iPhone and reinstalled the app multiple times to no avail. No other app behaves this way. It’s sad to consider removing the app permanently because Fox can’t address the issue. I believe there are many others.

I had the same problem on IPhone 15 pro max. I did this and so far , problem solved.

Some apps do not support dynamic text. Fox News evidently happens to be one of them. Solution: Go to settings, display and brightness, text size. Tap on text size there will be a slide thing wit a dot that you can move. Slide it to the left to the fourth dot from the left. That cured my problem. My text was too large.

You don't tell us which versions of macOS and Safari that you're using.

Please make sure that both are up to date. You don't have to upgrade to the newest OS, just make sure there are no updates waiting for the version you have.

Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Since this has been going on for some time now with no apparent fix in sight, when you have trouble using a website with Safari, try opening it with a third party browser.

I suggest you take a look at Firefox browser or Brave browser.

Download an alternative browser and install it into your Applications folder. Launch and use that when you encounter websites that don't play well with Safari.

I had the same problem with FoxNews for almost a year - infuriating. But I might have fixed it - or at least, the problem has gone away. Like many users, on FoxNews, my iPad Air (3rd generation) would slow down and eventually become unresponsive. It didn’t seem to matter where I touched the screen - nothing. But then . . .

I believe the problem had to do with the sidebar videos - those miniature videos that are docked down the right margin of the screen. I noticed that when I touched one of those videos, I got a MOMENTARY X at the upper left corner of the screen. I say momentary because it’s only visible for about a second and then it disappears and the screen is still unresponsive. B U T, if you can tap the x before it disappears, the screen becomes responsive. I only did this once and the problem has gone away and hasn’t returned in the last month or two. Was it a coincidence? Lucky timing? I don’t know. I’m happy.
