Website Crashing on iOS Devices

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue where my website, crashes on Apple iOS devices. While the site functions correctly on desktop browsers and Android devices, it either freezes or fails to load on Safari and other iOS browsers.

I’ve attempted to resolve this by clearing the browser cache, updating to the latest iOS version, and checking for any known issues, but the problem persists.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem with websites on iOS? What troubleshooting steps or solutions can you recommend to fix this issue?

Thank you!

Well, the chances are it's something on the web site that's causing the problem, although browser crashes are pretty rare nowadays.

The hard part is debugging iOS, but there are several paths that can help.

The first place would be to enable the Web Inspector in Safari on iOS. Use Settings -> Apps -> Safari -> Advanced to enable the Web Inspector, then on your Mac, use Safari -> Settings -> Advanced -> Show Features for Web Developers.

Now you have a new Develop menu in Safari.

First connect your phone to your Mac via a cable, and launch Safari on iOS

Then in Safari on Mac, go to the Develop menu and choose your iOS device from the menu. A sub-menu will show the current tab(s) in Safari on your phone. Pick one, then you'll see the Web Inspector for the page where you can look for errors.

If that doesn't work, you can step it up a notch and download Xcode, then use the iOS Simulator to profile your web site. This can provide more focussed insights including logs which might show something useful.
