Move iTunes library from ios10 to MacBook air music

I just purchased in new 2023 MacBook Air 15" to replace both my 2011 MacBook Air and my 2011 iMac desk top. I migrated all of data from my old Air to my new one no problem. How do I transfer my iTunes library from my iMac (running High Sierra) to Music on my new Air? Thanks!

Transferring music library to a new PC with Apple Music app Hello, I am trying to work out how to transfer my music library from my old PC (Windows 10) to a new PC (Windows 11), using the Apple Music app. Earlier this year iTunes seemed to be discontinued as a way of managing music (it now, for some reason, only manages podcasts and audiobooks), and I was required by Apple to install and use the Apple Music app. This has been fine for listening to my music, but now I have a problem to which I can’t find a solution. The problem is that all the instructions about transferring my music library to a new PC talk about using iTunes (which no longer works), including instructions to consolidate my files in the iTunes folder. See for example these instructions on the Apple support web pages: Move your iTunes library to another computer – Apple Support (UK) Despite lots of Google searching, and searches on this forum, I have been unable to find any instructions on how to do this using the new Apple Music app. Nor (apart from one unanswered query on this forum) have I even found any reference to this being an issue! Which suggests it could be me being an idiot. And just to be clear, I am talking about my CD collection which (many moons ago) I ripped to my PC. I don’t have an Apple Music subscription, and don’t stream music from Apple Music. So, can anyone advise me how to achieve this? I have my external hard drive waiting and ready to go … Many thanks in advance. Cheers, Dave

I have quite a large iTunes library, is there a way of retrieving the library onto my new MacBook from my old MacBook? In the last year I replaced my mid 2009 MacBook with a 2021 MacBook M1. On the 2009 version I had quite a large iTunes library of music, is there a way of retrieving the library onto my new MacBook? Am I right in thinking that an iTunes library is stored I the cloud and not on an actual MacBook hard drive so should be accesable to my new MacBook? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

I suspect your real question is how to merge the two libraries. I don't believe that is possible. You could have two separate libraries and sqwith between them when you start Music. See:
