Time machine could not back up to the LaCie 2T external drive.
If I need to replace the LaCie 2T, I'm okay with that. If there is a something I can do to "fix" it, I'll try that first. The drive was installed 8/2017. I have 24" iMac running OS 14

Disconnect the LaCie 2T and set it aside.
Purchase and start using a new external drive for Time Machine.
Reconnect the LaCie, open Disk Utility, see if you can repair or erase and reformat the LaCie.
If you can, then use the LaCie for redundant clone backups using either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper.
If you can not see, repair or erase and format the old LaCie, then it has gone to external drive heaven and needs to be tossed.

It would help if you could tell us what is happening. What messages do you get, etc.? Has it ever worked? What happened when it stopped working? Can you access the drive? If so. I suggest that you start over and reformat the drive (the same as your HD). Then try resetting the backups.
Thank you!
You're welcome.
