Volume button not working on WhatsApp on iPhone

The below mentioned solution worked for me.

Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and toggle on Change with Buttons.

I updated WA (23.24.0) about 2 Days ago, now it works again on my 15 pro (17.1.1) no problems anymore.

I don’t have a permanent fix, however; I am strongly off the opinion that it is WhatsApp’s fault, read on for why.

If you are in WhatsApp, the buttons will never work, but; you can click play, then task to any other app, the sound still plays but now the buttons work.

You can also pull down in control centre and use the volume slider which works with no issues. you can do this inside WhatsApp.

This is also present in voice and video calls.

it’s not necessary to restart as the app still produces the same problem.

The solution it’s leave the action button as SILENT MODE. That way the volume up and dow will work as normally, but if you decided to use other action button that it’s not the silent mode, you will have this issue with the volumen up or down while you listening audios or seeing videos on whatssApp.

Just restart your phone. It will work. Just like our same old PCs 😂. It worked on my Iphone 15 pro max

I’ve had this problem as well. I’ve just had a software update for WhatsApp and it was fixed. Just update your WhatsApp app through the AppStore

Following worked for me-

Goto Settings > Sounds & Haptics and make sure 'Change with Buttons' is enabled and 'Lock Sound' option is disabled.

Guys I think I’ve discovered what’s causing the issue. However I’m still figuring out how to solve it. The problem is inside whatsapp “updates” those little short videos people post ? On the lower left corner, when you go inside and click on anyone’s update, the volume control stops working. Go ahead and test it. Restart your app, open it again and without viewing any update, try the volume control. It should work. But as soon as you open an update, it doesn’t. Please let me know if you find something else.

this problem began at least one month ago ago it’s on all iPhones XSs 11s 12s 13s and 14s not only 15s whatsapp has been updated 5 times at least since then, and the problem still exist i have reported this problem to whatsapp more than 10 times and i will continue reporting it until they fix it. Because there’s no solution for it in our hands it’s in whatsapp. The only solution is temporary, refreshing the app by changing the settings of the app inside the setting app ore restarting whatsapp, so keed reporting this problem to whatsapp.

Not sure if it’s just a solution for time being, but it’s letting me in comfort zone comparing all other temp fixes above, which worked only for few minutes for me.

i did a complete reinstall of WhatsApp after taking backup of my chats. It worked well so far for last 6+hours. I can now control volume of media playing through the volume buttons.

I switched off power of my iPhone for a minute and restarted. The speaker volume control in WhatsApp started working.

I have deleted the app and then redownloaded it and it worked
