macOS Sonoma is supposed to allow you to type in the middle of dictation without having to turn off the mic/dictation. However, when I type, the mic stays on but it won't type anything I say. I have dexterity issues from a chronic disease and have to use dictation to get work done. I appreciate any help you can give!

Seems to be working....
Macbook Pro M2 chip on 14.5. I was experiencing many of the same issues described by other users on this thread.
After turning dictation off, rebooting, and then turning dictation back on it appears to be working.
Note: Some of my problem was that I was trying to use dictation in Chrome and with Google office apps. This does not work for technical reasons that after a little research appear to be well documented.

Actually nope. It worked for 3 things and then stopped again!
I am having the same issue.... It may have been after an upgrade of software. Brand new M2 Mac Air... It was working fine and now I cant get anything... verified it is on... Sonoma 14.1.1
Same. My keyboard shortcuts are also not staying set. I have a health condition that means I have to use shortcuts and dictation to be able to do normal things. This is causing me literal pain.
Is anybody as MSFT looking into this??

I was hoping 14.2.1 would fix the dictation problem, but alas! When will Apple fix dictation in Sonoma? It's highly irritating!
March 14 and still not fixed. It's 2024 and Apple continues to break things.
I've updated to Sonoma 14.4, and still the dictation problem persists. At this point we're only complaining to each other, and nothing being done to fix this problem.
I newly update my Macos to sonama 14.4 and unfortunately the dictation after 5 or 10 words interrupted to a error page .
Same problem here in any apps. Maybe it’s got something to do with Apple working on integrating AI into voice recognition. Could be that they’re working on setting this whole dictation thing up new.
Dictation was working perfectly until I upgraded my macOS to Sonoma 14.4.1. I do a lot of data entry work using dictation on a daily basis. Please fix this asap
I just upgraded from 14.1 to 14.5 and I am just now having the same problem everyone says here. I see the blue mic icon but no text appears when I speak.
