Is there a way to search iMessages by date or date range?

It's a real drag to scroll up through thousands of messages to try and find a message from a year ago. This posting from 2020 indicated it was possible to use Spotlight to search messages by date or date range. However, this no longer seems to work in Spotlight (see screenshot). Is there a way to do this in 2023?

Messages search by date Messages search by date: Once it was possible, then impossible, a few years later spotlight was added, but now (16.3.1) those adjustments in settings disappeared and again made it impossible. You would think feature-obsessed Apple would restore actual useful features like this, but heavens no. What am I missing? thanks

iMessage How do I search for messages on a certain date in iMessage with someone. I have both the 2019 MBP 16" with the latest version and the newest iPhone with the latest software. I can't seem to find any solutions. If it can't be done on iPhone, I have a Mac to search. Just don't know how to use finder properly.

How to view recently searched for items in iMessage? Is there any "recently searched" for function in iMessage? Photos shows the 5 last searched for items. Where can I find this in iMessage? Thanks.

I don't think so. Tell Apple what missing features you'd like restored or new features added to the system via Feedback - macOS - Apple.
