Iphone SE Automatically dimming to a low brightness (Oct 2023)

I looked in the community and it appears that the last time this question was asked was over a year ago. My Iphone SE (2nd Gen), which is about 4 yrs old, started to automatically dim the brightness recently. I have always had Appearance/"Off" and set to dark, and the True Tone settting is also "Off". I have updated to the recent IOS 17.1 version and it still continues to dim when I turn the phone back on after waking it from the sleep mode. I tried a "Forced Restart" which didn't resolve the issue. The phone is not in the direct sunlight and is not charging at the time which could be a cause based upon a google search. The Battery Health is 81%. I have noticed that when I used the phone with a wireless charging pad in my new car, it would start to get warm when It reached 100% but was still in the charging station (Not sure if that is related). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The Battery Health is 81%.

At 4 years old, your battery has delivered excellent service.

It is going to be down to 80% very very soon, and that is the time to replace the battery at the Apple Store or authorized Apple service shop. About $69 (U.S.)

Sorry it took so long to reply. Thank you for the response. I did end up taking the phone in and having the battery replaced. I was incorrect about the 4 yr mark, it turned out to be 3 years; however, that is about the life span of the battery (and it was at 81% health status). I had one setting that had reset itself; however, between the Apple Rep changing it back and having the battery replaced, the issue has been resolved. Thanks again.
