Ever since I updated to 17.1, I am having recurring issues in the operation of my iPhone 12 mini. Freezing up, not able to open or close apps, everything is just going haywire

Continual freezing and inoperative apps. After multiple reboots, works ok for a while, then for whatever reason zaps out again. When I try to update using the Mac, it says software is up to date. Extremely frustrating.

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 17

If you already tried (to no avail) the "forced" restart of your iPhone, two basic troubleshooting steps to perform (test after each attempt):

A) If you can, check your battery status in Settings>Battery>Battery Health & Charging>Maximum capacity. If it is close to 83-80%, have it replaced as soon as possible, since it might have unpredictable behavior.

B) If the issue persists, something could have gone wrong during the latest update procedure.

I would try to install a fresh copy of iOS/iPadOS (the latest available/supported by your device model). To do this, create a full backup of your iPhone/iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).

When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).

Follow the instructions provided in these support articles:

(1) How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch – Apple Support

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

If the issue still persists, I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

Giulio

My pleasure, ronny269.

Well, beyond the battery (which is reaching the critical point of its life, and may affect the fluidity of the device), I recommend you also check the available space on your iPhone in Settings>General>iPhone Storage (sometimes this also affects the performance of the smartphone) and, if necessary, make some room by deleting unused stuff.

Please keep me informed, and have a nice weekend.

Since updating my XS Max (I know) to 17.1.1 i have a ton of issues. Phone is almost not usable. Apps don’t open (I.e. Amazon), AirPods Pro are constantly disconnecting. Absolute nightmare, have the feeling they want to force me to upgrade to an iPhone 15.

Rebooting, soft rebooting or uninstalling individual apps didn’t solve the issue. Have no desire to reinstall clean IOS, but might be the only option.

Thanks for all of this. battery is up to 85% as instructed above. I tried to back up using computer, but it indicated the phone was already up to date...so I will try what you indicate above as well. the phone is backed up in the iCloud....so that should be ok I presume if I reinstall things. Will read above and try this later this afternoon.

Thank you very much.

yes, in fact, just updated to 17.1.1...I hope that is better...but after one night, the phone started acting weird when I tried to close some windows - as if they don't really close, I try to finger swipe them up and out, but it does not work properly...so once again, I do the reboot...and then it comes back to work normally. it should not really be like this. the battery is relatively ok, the storage is not an issue (less than half available storage used)..something else funky must be going on. I purchased the phone 2years ago new and it is still covered by extra apple care, I believe..but may need to verify that. besides, I am sure when I go to a service dealer..the phenomenon won't happen...oh well...will continue to plow through this. thanks for your replies everyone

I'm having some like issues but it's since I updated my 14 plus

Some things are rebooting itself when trying to make a call or text it was doing it every time I tried to use it but it stays on mostly now but it recently shows me on the internet in settings but it's not on the internet at all. It will not sign out of Find me which has been a big problem because Verizon will replace my phone but I can't get out of that and the activation lock

Hello, i updated my ipad pro (12 inches) to ios 17.1.1 and ever since i cannot share ANY files in any way, no email, no posting directly to apps, mo airdrop, no saving files- NOTHING. As of now, everything stored in my ipad is now locked and trapped in the device with no way of transferring- this SINCE i updated to ios 17.1.1. This wouldnt be an urgent matter if it werent that i use this for business and depend on said files. I do backup my projects but usually as finished products- i have hours of invested work in projects in progress that i would lose without pay if i were to reset my ipad to factory settings.

i have hard reset and turned ipad on and off several times. Nothing seems to work. This is the worst bug i have ever encountered and it is affecting me in the busiest months of the year in terms of my business. If i lose everything i know i wont be compensated- my apple product use is suddenly turning into my worst investment, this is an issue CAUSED by the brand/product itself. Please HELP, help me fix this without losing my information, files and/or data. Thank you

seems like we're all in the same boat...just not sure how we can elevate this to get a response from someone at Apple...not sure how these things work. First time on the forum...never had issues like this with my prior Apple products of updates. Guess we can only wait, but it does give one pause in terms of next purchase decision.
