App Installation Stuck, unable to switch off MacBook

I had attempted installing an app from the App Store. Installation got stuck towards the end due poor network. Ever since that failed attempt, the app is being displayed on Launch Pad with a label of installation '14.9 of 14.9 MB' and the horizontal bar displaying just short of complete.

This installation is not permitting me to turn off the laptop. It's showing a dialogue box mentioning 'App Installation in Progress'. Neither is the installation process getting terminated. I tried to drain out the battery. However, restarting the laptop after charging, the installation bar continues being displayed and unable to shut down the MacBook

HELP!!!

Force shutdown by holding the Power button down for about 10+ seconds. Then boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and delete the installer app from there. It should be located in the Applicataions folder. Then reboot normally.

Note:  if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode.  This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will assure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
