I just updated to iOS 10.2 and I have (I think or thought) the same problem you describe.
I tried un-pair/re-pair twice but it didn't work :-(
Could you by any chance confirm if your original post and description of your issue matches mine (below)?
Previously in WatchOS ≤9 I was able to check ALL weather info via a complication on the watch face with the following steps:
- Watch face # complication # temperature is displayed
- Tap temperature # displayed "temperature clock"
- Scroll with crown # displayed "weather clock"
...further scroll displayed "humidity clock", warnings, and all other info.
This operation took me 2–4 seconds as it required only TAP + SCROLL. Excellent! Sometimes I actually did it just to enjoy the wonderfully thought out IxD + UI = UX.
Now in 10.2 the same operation requires the following steps:
- Watch face >> weather complication >> temperature is displayed by default
- TAP temperature = displays "temperature clock"
- Scroll with crown >> displays stripped forecast ONLY for temperature
- To see any other info requires >> TAP symbol in the upper right corner
- TAP "weather conditions" (or other aspect which may require scrolling as a separate extra step...)
- "Weather clock" (or other) appears
- Scroll with crown for additional (stripped) info on each category of weather info
This now requires 10–20 seconds for TAP + (scroll +) TAP (+ scroll) + TAP (+scroll). That, in itself, is a 500–1 000% (!!!) surge of time to achieve what I want (+ cognitive load).
Seriously…!?
Not to mention the 20+ minutes of lost productivity to cool down from the instantly maxed blood pressure this generates... it is driving me absolutely nuts.
Good luck trying to check weather in this manner while driving, biking, etc [insert any manual work requiring focus and hands].
I am grasping here for a fix, but I am guessing your problem might have been different from what I am describing?
Judging from threads in other user forums this seems to be a feature rather than a bug... also, there seems to be a bunch of other equally horrifying destructive and deteriorating changes of core interactions and functionality that I am becoming aware of after the update a couple of hours ago... :-(
I can't wrap my head around this: is it really possible that Apple has destroyed core ultra-efficient IxD user-centric and purpose-driven functions in the weather app by bloating the UI with not only one (!) but SEVERAL (!!) layers of submenus and interactions...?
The feeling reminds me of... trying to use accounting or other business software back in the 90's where all interactions were back-handedly fragmented in a maze of categories, sub-menus and sub-sub-menus. It is as if the designer or developer 1. checked features off a list 2. without a clue about what the user actually needed and 3. without thinking about the consequences and required cognitive load these features would impose on the user.
Sorry if this is too much of a rant – but I am absolutely stunningly and mind-numbingly disappointed. As a die hard lifetime fan from the 80s and onward I really really expect much more from Apple...
At the very least I expect them not trying to "fix" anything that is NOT broken.
