My iMac was hacked. The data breach included the serial number for my iMAC. What can I do to lock out someone impersonating me on Facebook Friend Request and Messenger ?
I am using Sonoma 14.0 macOS on an iMac.

The Facebook and Messenger issues are common. Those accounts are likely not hacked, but someone may be impersonating you with lifted pics and a same FB user name.
If you are concerned about the security of your FB account, change your password.
You may also wish to post a notice on your FB page letting your friends know that you haven't been sending friend requests or Messenger texts.
No, they cannot do anything with just your SN info. However if you gave then any account information, phone numbers, e-mail, physical addresses, passwords etc then you will need to handle each accordingly.
Apple will NEVER call you nor will Microsoft or any major vendor.
There’s really nothing they can do with the serial number.
Why do you think it was hacked? Unless you fell for a scam or installed some malware you iMac is very secure.
I half way fell for a scam. The red flag went up when they asked for my bank account number. By that time they had my iMac serial number. Can they do anything with the serial number ?
