How to get rid of the white line on my iPhone photos?

On occasions when I am viewing my photos, there is a white, moving line that outlines people and objects in my photos. What is happening?

When this happens, Photos is automatically lifting the subject from the photo, so you can copy and paste it into some document, with the background transparent. This is described here: Lift a subject from the photo or video background on iPhone - Apple Support

This will start automatically when you touch the subject in the picture while viewing the photo full screen.

It seems to me that the flashing light image selection only happens when Photos thinks there's a person that can be separated for a sticker, so touching a barn or a tree doesn't do it. When you start and image selection, it continues to remind you you're in that mode until you press someplace else, like on a tree or the sky-- then it stops.

It also stops when you touch the circled i for info and the info window pops up.

The "stickers" animation should only happen when in the Info mode. When I want to copy a picture for pasting into a message, I choose Share and "copy" appears at the bottom. I tap that and then paste into a message. The "stickers" thing doesn't come up at all.

How is it different for you?

It is a cool feature, agreed. In iOS17 we can use the saved stickers to add the subject from one photo to any other photo and merge two photos this way. It as not been possible in Photos iOS before, and we needed a hird party app to do this.

But the white line should not appear out of the blue, when we need to view our photos clearly or just want to concentrate on the Info. Most of the time it is just an unnecessary distraction and we should be able turn it off, unless we want to extract the subject.

Hate the “edit” outline feature.

I tried to copy a photo from photos to paste in a text message thread, by pressing down and it automatically cropped out background.

Apple rep should simply state how to turn this “feature” off. It should be an option -not the default, as it is altering the original image.

Default should be accurate “Copy” of the image.

I read, and get, that some may like the feature, and the ability to add a “sticker”, that does not justify an Apple program, by default, altering images.

Clearly most users, by reading these community comments, do not like this arbitrary feature. Apple should simply add the editing tool as an option when copying, NOT as a default.
