why not just re download it? you can only ever buy an app once,

you can go to app store and click your portrait and purchased->my purchases->not on this ipad

and click on it

if it was downloaded as word along back in the day then ms may have pulled it from the store and replaced it by office 356

Apps purchased from the Apple App Store are permanently associated with the AppleID account from which they were purchased. As such, provided that you are signed-in to the App Store with the same AppleID, all you previous App purchases should be available to you to reinstall.

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and others are all available from the Apple App Store. All now require iOS/iPadOS16 or later.

There there is also an Office365 App in the Apple App Store both iPad and iPhone.

  • Microsoft Office

The Office 365 App for iPad is a “cut-down” single install App; this App does not replicate full MS Office functionality.

For iPad devices with a screen larger than 10.1”, the MS App’s require an active Microsoft 365 Subscription - which you are already likely to have. If you don’t have an active O365 subscription, functionality is limited to opening and reviewing existing documents.
