Apple just released iOS 17.1.2. Update your iPhone, then after the update completes, Force Restart your iPhone by following these directions --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Keep the Force Restart instructions as I do this after EVERY iOS update and I've never had an issue caused by any update in all the years I've owned an iPhone.

I am running iOS 17.4. My connection issue started with this version. At some point my iPhone 13 Pro Max simply stops connecting to Bluetooth devices. It doesn’t even try, replying immediately that there is a problem. I now know I have to toggle Bluetooth off, then back on to get it to work again. This is a workaround, not a fix! Please address this apparently longstanding iOS 17 bug.

My grand-daughter is having the same problem. Bluetooth connection dropping in and out. She’s been to the Apple Store twice and they told her to erase the phone and restore which we did last night. The problem continued and today they told to do the same but to load all apps manually. Also they were trying to tell her she needs more iCloud storage. She ended up buying an external storage device for her phone. She is still having the problem.

I started having issues only yesterday, last iOS upgrade is a few days older than that, I do not remember the exact day when I did the update, but it was definitely not anytime yesterday, morning calls were fine, afternoon calls started falling apart:

  • iPhone 15 about 2 weeks old, running latest iOS 17.1.1
  • Apple 2nd gen Airpods Pro, about 3 months old
  • Sony WH-1000XM4 about 1.5 years old

Batteries are all charged well enough.

Symptoms as follows:

  • issues appear to be restricted to Hands Free / 2 way Bluetooth profile only
  • I get audio drop outs every 3-5 minutes or so, it sounds like a buffer is overflowing, reseting and then starting over... as in "audio is fine for some time, then suddenly starts breaking up, lots of stutter, repeats etc. for about 10 seconds, then it snaps back to good"
  • in the High Quality (or whatever it's called) profile I have no issues whatsoever = can listen to music, watch videos all day long

I use MS Teams for work at least 3 hrs a day. It's quite frustrating to have to resort to speaker. I hope this issue is identified, addressed and fixed soon. This is the first time that I'm experiencing this sort of thing.

iPhones have never paired with each other over Bluetooth, so that's not an issue you can expect Apple to fix. They just don't support the Bluetooth pairing of iPhones to each other. This is NOT an iOS 17 issue at all.

It sounds like you have an issue with your AirPods, however, which you should take to the Genius Bar at your Apple Store to have them tested.

My issues has disappeared as suddenly as they appeared. The symptoms described above set in on Thursday last week, experienced them all throughout Friday. Then throughout the weekend I didn't experience any since I didn't use any "2 way comms", starting yesterday (Monday) the problem has magically disappeared.

Note: I haven't done anything in particular. No additional unpairing / repairing, no restarts, no updates to MS Teams or any such thing.

I had this issue since the release of ios 17.0. My airpods pro 2 disconnect frequently. I thought it was my airpods and i had them replaced but it started now on other BT devices/headphones too. iOS 17 is garbage. Lots of issues with music app, volume slider and also UI issues as well. And apparently BT is affected now too. The richest software company and they can't even fix things in a timely matter. Really disappointed after i bought watch se, 15PM, iPad Pro 12.9 and Macbook. Seems like i threw several thousand dollars down the toilet because they can't even fix the most basic issues.

Problems with pairing my hearing aids to my iPhone 13 since upgrading to version 17.1.1. Prior to the upgrade the pairing was automatic when I put my hearing aids in each morning and stayed all day. After the upgrade, I started missing calls because they were not paired and the audible ringer was turned off. Not being paired, the phone was not ringing in my aids. I find that I can only get them paired immediately after taking the hearing aids out of the charger which turns the hearing aids on. If I pair them in the morning, they may lose the pairing at some point during the day despite the fact that my iPhone is no farther away than my pocket. at this moment, the left on is still paired, but the right one is not. What is the answer?

My issues are similar to others. As soon as I updated to 17.1.1, problems started with my connected devices. Neither my husband, who has a new iPhone, nor I can connect to our printer. I had to forget and reconnect my AirPods several times. I can't get my phone to connect to my Apple Watch. I don't know if this is related, but the Watch will only hold a charge for about half a day, even though the battery health is 99%. Maybe it's searching? I've tried the turn off--turn on sequence discussed here along with a number of other strategies, but I think this will take a visit to the Genius Bar to get straightened out.
