Navigational Maps are Frustrating

Hello Community,

i have a iPhone 12ProMax. Im extremely frustrated with any kind of navigation maps. IE Google, Apple Maps, Waze, in them not working. I will start my journey/destination and without fail, about 3 minutes in the arrow/car takes a mind of its own. I literally have to stop and hope it clears itself. It continues to place me where im not on the map and am lost. Ive tried every possible solution, (location on, app is allowed while im using it. The directions keep reloading/recalculating. I end up just giving up. Have not gotten any answers to why this is happening or as to how to fix it. Can anyone please help.

If your car has a GPS antenna, when you connect for CarPlay, it will use the cars GPS for location. Try not plugging it in and navigating with the map on the phone by itself. If you don't have a problem with that, then the issue is with the head unit/gps in the car, not the phone.

Just to check the basics:

Settings/Wi-Fi ON (even if you are not connected to a Wi-Fi network)
Settings/Bluetooth ON
Settings/Cellular Data ON
Cellular Data for the navigation apps ON
Settings/Privacy & Security/Location Services ON
Location Services/Maps WHILE USING (for each map application)

Are you using CarPlay? If so, the fault may lie with the GPS antenna or receiver in the car.

I do have CarPlay. However, my thought is that the Carplay is just mirroring the phone. I look at my phone and it is all wonky as well. So, possibly i need to go back and see if that is a case with the person who installed it?

I was going to say. As i’m looking at my phone in the phone, it shows me miles from my current location.

Any thoughts? Thank you
