I keep getting fraudulent Roblox charges from Apple

On two occasions now, my wife noticed multiple charges (four to five) occurring on the same day, and reoccurring through the month to her bank card from Apple. Some charges were $59.00 each, charged several times on the same day, etc. Other charges were for varying dollar amounts but totaling over $1,000.

While disputing these charges and after further investigation, it was determined they came from Roblox.

My daughter plays Roblox and the only time she buys items, is with parent permission, as she does not know the password or have the biometrics to approve the purchase.

Now, after getting refunded the money, Roblox has suspended my daughter’s account for 12 months, punishing a child for someone else’s ethical misconduct.

Has anyone else experienced mysterious charges on their bank statements related to Roblox, and any idea how these happen and how to combat it?

I seem to always have the same issue with Roblox & them charging some random thing every couple of months. The last few times it was during an update and it was mandatory I associate a CC to the iPad for the update? Once I did, charges came through almost immediately post Roblox update (so I know it wasn’t my kid who purchased anything).

The latest one came with a wide number of robux purchases for a game called Blox fruits, when I checked purchased history and asked my child about those specific purchases, they said they don’t have memory of buying them. To be fair they redeem robux with gift cards and DO remember the items they buy with it.

I find it strange that it’s consistent and unsure if this could be fraud/scam because the purchase is documented and associated to my kid’s iPad itself?!

In general, I think there should be lawsuits against Roblox for how easy they make it for children to charge things w/o even their knowledge. Unfortunately I don’t play any of the games to get an idea of the interface, but will from now on to check how (for example) game passes can be charged indiscriminately.

Good news is, Apple support has refunded most of the disputes in the past, except for this round - which has been over $150 worth of purchases within less than 2 days!

If you figure out how this is happening, please let me know. My suggestion would be to login to the Roblox via browser —> click robux symbol —> my transactions —> purchases — this will give you the ability to question your child on the actual inventory purchases with the robux that was purchased?

Hope this helps!

I've been having the same issue and so strange to see someone mention the same thing just a few weeks apart. My husband and I work in financial institutes and ive been in billing, disputes and fraud and would always hear about these cases of people's kids using their card without permission, so we've always had barriers up to stop it from happening on us. Ive never had to dispute a roblox charge but we noticed when we purchased $5 worth of bux, we got notified that $5 and $10 went through. I checked her account and didn't see her bux balance go up and I was the one that selected $5. I emailed roblox today to dispute it, then when we woke up from our nap, another $5 charge from roblox .. we decided to investigate deeper, going into our kid's purchase history and their apple ID purchase history too. It shows my daughter bought 3 rounds of robux for the amounts were were charged today, but when i logged into her roblox, only $400 robux ($5) showed in her history, not the rest. I then looked into devices that were logged in, and there's an android logged into her account. I've signed her out of all devices, and reset her password and set up more barriers. I think something strange is going on, it's possible she was hacked, but i have no idea how.

Almost the same exact thing happened to me. I was having a hard time believing my son. I’ve feel terrible, but I was thinking there was someway he was able to get around the approval process to purchase the Robux. On further investigation, I realize that someone has hacked his account, doing the same multiple charges multiple days. I have since completely deleted the app and that game is no longer allowed to be played
