I know my password for my Apple ID, but my Mac book will not accept it. I signed into my icloud on my browser successfully.

I am trying to install something on my computer. It asks me to type in my apple ID and password. It says my password is incorrect, even though it is not incorrect. I cannot even sign out and sign back in.

I understand you confirmed your Apple ID credentials are correct by signing in to iCloud (for example) but your password does not work when attempting to install something on your Mac.


Installing an app on a Mac requires your Mac's login credentials, which are not necessarily the same as your Apple ID. What happens when you log out of that Mac and attempt to log in again?
